Brasure: Generation 1
Mitchell Brasure & Sarah Hill
Mitchell was probably born between 1800 and 1810, but could have been born as early as 1790.
c. 1804: Sarah "Sally" Hill was born in Sussex County, DE.
23 Nov 1823: Mitchel Brasure and Sally Hill were married in Sussex County. If Sally was his first wife, it would preclude Mitchell from being the father of Jacob H. Brasure, who was born in 1817. But a first marriage is possible. In the 1820 Census, both William "the Younger" and "Old James had males 16-26 and males under 10 in their households. While Old James only had 1 female 26-45, and 1 10-16; William the Younger had 1 female 16-26. Thus William the Younger might've have had a young couple with a young son residing with him. See Brasure Families in Sussex County.
1830 Census, Baltimore Hundred, Sussex County, DE: There are two listed:
1) 2 males under 5, 1 30-40; 1 female under 5, 1 20-30, enumerated close to John Lynch. This is more likely to have been Mitchell and Sarah based upon Sarah's birth date c. 1804. that would mean a birth date for Mitchell of 1790-1800.
2) 1 male under 5, 1 5-10, 1 10-15, 30-40; 1 female under 5, 1 15-20, 1 30-40.[1] The 10-15 year old male in the second household was the correct age to have been Jacob H. This Mitchell was listed by Benton Brasure Senior, close to William Brasure.
1835: Mitchell bought or sold land from or to N. Ellis in Sussex County - but which Mitchell?[2]
1837 Tax List, Baltimore Hundred, Sussex County, DE: Mitchell Brasure was assessed a value of $181.
1839: He purchased or sold land from or to Ananius Rogers in Sussex County.[3]

There is an "Elizabeth Brasure", age 55, born DE, residing in the household of James A. Brasure in 1860. Was Mitchell's widow actually "Sarah Elizabeth", or were they two different individuals?
24 Jul 1860 Census, Baltimore Hundred, Sussex County, DE (Millsboro P.O.): Thomas Godwin, a mariner, age 40, born DE; Elizabeth 15; Thomas 1; and Sarah Brasiur 55.[5] They were listed close to [sons and daughters- in-law] Joshua and Elizabeth Brasure and Joshua and Margaret Brasure.
