The following list is included as a possible aid to further research. It contains references found in various records to individuals who might or might not actually be Dentys, but aren't yet identified and thus not assignable to a particular lineage or discussed in the previous text. The names are arranged alphabetically by first name, as though the last name was always spelled Denty. The list contains no references to the surname Dainty unless the location or year points to a possible Denty connection. Since the information is only as good as the source, many of these names may be simple typos or errors in the transcription of old and fading documents; but, whatever the spelling, I've retained them as possible Dentys until the records prove otherwise. Once again, the entries appearing below do not contain any references to individuals who were obviously born after 1902, unless they appear as children in a household.

In the household are wife Lucinda born Jun 1856 in IL; Joseph born Jul 1880 in MO; James D. born Dec 1882 in MO; "Doctor" F. born Mar 1884 in AR; Thomas N. born Jul 1888 in AR; Albert R. born Jun 1890 in AR; Walter born Jan 1892 in AR. Ann Denty, age 60, born VA, was enumerated in Elizabeth River Parish, Norfolk Co, VA in 1850 with her children Martha A. age 34; Agnes L. age 23; farmer Charles L. 21; Anna Robertson age 9. Ann and three children each list real property worth $2,000. [1850 Census Index/Orig: Pg 250]

Eliza Dainty married Samuel Hamilton Shepard in DC on 31 Jul 1849. [DAR, p. 168] (Many Dentys married Shepherds: Gladys Virginia Denty, daughter of Napoleon Denty, married John B. Shepherd on 20 May 1916; her sister Anita Denty wed Silas Shepherd on 3 Jun 1911; and Shirley Bayliss, daughter of George and Mary Denty Bayliss, married Marvin Shepherd. One researcher, David Talbot, claims Elizabeth was another daughter of James Compton and Sophia Barker Denty, and that she and Samuel had a son, James Shepherd, born 1851 in Fairfax, who died 10 Feb 1894, and was buried in Woodlawn Baptist Cemetery. This James Shepherd married Mary Elizabeth Dove and had children George Henry, Lena E, Frank, Maude, Nolan Timothy, and Herbert James Shepherd.)

Margaret Emma Hyatt Denty married Young Wallis Cordell (b. 2 Aug 1879, d. 12 Aug 1930) on 30 Mar 1912 in Fairfax Co, VA. Emma had been born abt 1879. In the 1920 Census, Young Cordell had wife Emma and step-daughter Margaret in his household in Bethesda, MD. (Emma was apparently the widow or divorcee of a Denty by whom she had had daughter Margaret born in DC about 1905; but which Denty? She also would appear to be connected to William H. and Emma J. Thomas Denty Hardy Botkin and Minerva J. Carroll gave birth to Mary Jane Frances Botkin on 16 Nov 1851 in Jersey, Jerseyville Co, IL.
Denty R. Reese (b. 1882), white male, registered for the draft in Amite Co, MS.
Based upon time and location, and in some cases, further research, it's almost certain that the individuals listed below were incorrectly recorded or transcribed as Dentys. With the proliferation of genealogical material on the internet, transcription errors have increased exponentially. It has become almost impossible, not to mention a waste of precious research time, to track each to its source. As a result, the section below should be considered only a sampling.
Abraham Denty was listed on the 1820 Census Index in South Mulberry Ward, Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co, PA. [ancestry.com/Orig: Pg 126]
Anthony Denty served as a Sgt in Company H, 184th PA Infantry during the Civil War, enlisting 21 Jul 1864. He was also indexed for the 1870 Census [Pg 612] in Allegheny Co as Anton Denty. The name is definitely Dentz.
Daniel S. Denty wed Eliza Goodwill in Wilbraham, Hampden Co, MA on 2 Mar 1833.
Dolla Denty appeared on the 1870 Census Index in Savannah, Chatham Co, GA. [ancestry.com/Orig: Pg 387]
Harel Denty, age 38, born AL; wife Murlle age 36; daughter Bertha age 15; sons Elmer 12, Mertis 8, Lalis 4, Ursley 2, and John appear in the 1920 Soundex on Brooksville Road in Blountsville, Blount Co, AL. Two other Denty households are also found on Brooksville Road: 1) Henry Denty, age 66, born AL; wife Fannie age 62; son Ernest 24, daughter Luthear 19; and 2) James Denty, age 59, born AL; wife Effie age 36; Henry 17, Vester 15, Leona 12, Martha 10, Mabell 8, Lima 5, John 3, and Daisy 7 months. [Orig: ED 170, Sheets 3-4] These are almost certainly errors in transcriptions as none of this numerous clan ever appears in any other record as Denty.
Isabella Denty is supposedly shown on 1850 Slave Schedule Index in District 2, Fayette Co, KY. [ancestry.com/Orig: Pg 675]
James Deantey, age 42, born Sep 1857 in TX; wife Everline, born 1872 in TX; Corah L, born Oct 1896; Dewey, born July 1899; mother Caroline, born Jul 1834 in NC; were listed in the 1900 Soundex in Cherokee Co, TX. [Orig: ED 26, Sheet 6]
Jeremiah Denty, age 62, indexed in the 1850 Census in Buffalo, Erie Co, NY. The surname is almost undoubtedly "Jeremiah Desetty".
Joseph Deanty, age 41, born Mar 1859 in TX, is listed on the 1900 Soundex in Cherokee Co, TX. Also in the household are wife Mary; Mack born May 1891; Willie, born Oct 1893. [Orig: ED 26, Sheet 6]
Lemuel Denty appeared in the 1887 and 1891-1893 Tax Lists for Buchanan Co, MO. He resided at Hall's P.O. in Wayne Township. [ancestry.com]
Martha B. Denty, indexed in the 1850 Ohio Co, VA Census, is actually Martha Dentz, an immigrant from Germany. [Pg 16]
Mathew Denty (born c. 1790, married Eunice Boynton on 26 Nov 1771, died 21 Aug 1825) was apparently actually Mathew Deuty/Duty. He was, however, recorded as Denty in Bailey, Early Connecticut Marriages prior to 1800, and in the 1790 and 1800 Censuses. He apparently had a son named William, and may have been related to the Pvt.
William Denty who deserted the April Muster of the Leavenworth Company in Farmington, Hartford Co, CT on 24 Nov 1777. The question is whether the correct transcription might originally have been Denty.
Moses Denty was listed in the 1830 Census, Marion Co, TN with 1 male under 5, 2 20-30; 1 female under 5, 1 5-10, 1 20-30. There are no deeds for Denty in the Marion Index, and moreover, Byron Sistler, transcribed the name as "Douty". [Pg 73; Sistler, 1830 Census Middle Tennessee]
